SEO, GEO, and AEO in Vancouver, Washington.

SEO, GEO, and AEO in Vancouver is the work of getting a Vancouver business found in Google's map, in the results under it, and in the AI answer, for the searches its customers run. I do it from Portland, ten minutes north over the Interstate Bridge, with a page for every service and area you cover, and published pricing from $425 a month. Below: Vancouver's searches by trade, who holds the map and the results today, and the plan.

Numbers pulled 21 September 2026 · Vancouver, WA and the metro

A plumbing click costs more in Vancouver than it does in Portland. Plumber vancouver wa is $35 and plumbers vancouver wa is $30, against $25 for plumber portland. Three businesses on the map get those clicks for nothing.

The companies holding the results are not large ones. On the plumbing page, two of the company sites have effectively nothing behind them, no links and no history of the kind that usually decides a ranking, and they sit above two national franchises. Every roofing company on its page is the same. Vancouver is being decided on relevance and proximity rather than on size, which is the kind of market where a well-built site moves quickly.

This page is what I would do for a business in Vancouver and the rest of Clark County: the searches, the three places you have to show up, and what each of them looks like today. Every figure comes from Ahrefs on the date below.

What Vancouver searches

What people in Vancouver type, how often each month, and what a business pays Google for one click on it. The top three get those clicks for free.

Ahrefs, US, September 2026. Volume is monthly searches. CPC is what advertisers pay per click today. Every search here is the "vancouver wa" phrasing, because the "vancouver washington" version is a fraction of the volume on every single term: 100 against 450 for plumbers, 150 against 400 for roofing, 10 against 300 for electrician. Write the way people type. Nothing on this list is easy in the way Hillsboro is easy; the softest trade search is roofing contractors at a difficulty of twelve. What Vancouver has instead is the highest click prices in the region and competitors who are winning on relevance rather than on size.

Three places you have to show up

The map, the results under it, and the answer an AI gives when someone asks it instead of Google. Three different competitions, and most Vancouver businesses are in one of them.

    The map

Three businesses per search, chosen from the Google Business Profile. Read the plumbing row carefully. Sarkinen Plumbing has 2,510 reviews and sits third, behind True Plumbing on 783 and P1 Plumbing on 171. A company with fifteen times the reviews of the one above it is in third place, which is the clearest evidence there is that the pack is not a review count contest. It is a profile contest that reviews settle once the profiles are equal. Roofing says the same thing: Safecover holds third on 98 reviews next to Valiant on 385.

    The organic results

Under the map, a thread on r/vancouverwa ranks first for plumbers and second for hvac, which means a conversation between neighbors outranks every plumbing company in the city. Yelp takes third on all three searches. Then the companies themselves, and this is the part worth looking at: almost none of them are big. Two of the plumbing sites have nothing behind them at all, and every roofing company on that page is small by the measure that normally decides rankings. Roofing is also the one search where the companies hold the page rather than the directories, which tells you it can be done here. What those companies have is a site about roofing in Vancouver. That is the whole advantage, and it is available to anyone willing to write the pages.

    The AI answer

ChatGPT does not read the map. It reads the review aggregators, the state license record, the BBB profile, and the company's own website, then names who it can verify. Gemini reads the Google Business Profile and tends to name the map. I have captured both for six trades in Portland, and the pattern holds across the river, with one difference that matters here: a Washington business is verified against Washington records, so the L&I registration is the one an engine checks rather than the Oregon CCB number. None of the Vancouver searches showed an AI Overview in the snapshots, so for now this is about being named in an assistant rather than quoted in a box at the top of Google.

Six fields, under two minutes. I reply within one business day with the scope and what I would recommend.

A couple of sentences is plenty: the calls that don't come, the page that doesn't rank, the spreadsheet, the thing that eats a morning.

Only if you need a tool built. SEO plans and website builds are priced on the pricing page. A ballpark helps me scope the build.

07section.faq

Questions Vancouver businesses ask

What does SEO cost in Vancouver?

The same as anywhere I work, and the prices are on the pricing page: Local SEO at $425 a month, Growth at $995, and Superior at $1,995, with the website included and built first on Growth and Superior. For most Vancouver trades the Local plan is the fit.

How long does SEO take in Vancouver?

Longer than Hillsboro and shorter than Portland. Nothing here sits at a difficulty of zero, so the pages take three to six months to settle, but the companies holding those spots are small enough that a well-built site catches them. The map moves on the profile work, usually inside two months.

Should I write Vancouver WA or Vancouver, Washington?

Vancouver WA, everywhere it reads naturally. The abbreviated version has several times the volume on every trade search: 450 a month against 100 for plumbers, 400 against 150 for roofing, 300 against 10 for electrician. Use the full name once for clarity and the short form the way your customers type it.

Why does a Reddit thread outrank my company?

Because it answers the question a person actually asked. A thread on r/vancouverwa ranks first for plumbers and second for hvac, above every plumbing company in the city. You cannot outrank a conversation by being a business. You outrank it by having a page that answers the same question more completely, with your prices, your hours, and your service area in text.

Do you work in Washington if you are based in Portland?

Yes. Vancouver is ten minutes over the Interstate Bridge and it is one of the eight areas I serve. The one difference in the work is that a Washington business is verified against Washington records, so the L&I registration takes the place of the Oregon CCB number in the listings and on the site.

Why are the clicks more expensive here than in Portland?

Fewer businesses bidding on a market that still has real demand. Plumber vancouver wa is $35 against $25 for plumber portland. A high click price with a small number of advertisers is the clearest signal there is that the work is worth money and the field is not crowded.
